Lydia's favourite lettuce - an Italian heirloom oak leaf type, that grows excellently here in Wales all through the seasons. Crisp, buttery & delicious!
At this time of year, due to the sugary & nutrient filled sap rising, the full heads can have plenty of aphids hiding in the crevices! They don't cause any damage, and are easily washed off with cold water, but if you'd rather not deal with bugs, try the mix lettuce bags which will be pre-rinsed. :)
